I was staring at this painting on another blog. That blog, btw had a whole bunch of pics – but I’m not going to link back to it, since it doesn’t name any of the artists to go along with the borrowed pictures. It only gives a link back to the official Lost Underground Art Show page – I get the jitters even using someone else’s work without notifying them first… but sharing is caring, and I’m a fan of linking back when I can, so I will do it now.

Back to the subject here… this f*ing amazing painting. Something so familiar to it, I couldn’t quite figure it out. I had to see who the artist was. Turns out it’s familiar because it’s my friend Dan. Dan Lydersen!!! (http://www.danlydersen.com)

I went to school with Dan, I printed tshirts for his band… Dan & I were in the same summer abroad painting class. We traveled to Rome for a month, with I think close to 7-8 other girls & 2 other dudes. That was the year the American University in Rome rented a house for us to use as a studio, I can’t remember the exact reason why but there was some sort of classroom space conflict. Anyways, this gave us a slight advantage because there was no time limit to working in the studio. The University closed at a certain hour, which I think was 6pm. It ended up that Dan, Andrew & I were late night painters – and took advantage of the studio space while everyone else took advantage of the night life.

We were kind of like the 3 amigos in Rome – that time was seriously fun. Anywho I miss my friend Dan & I wonder what Andrew is doing…. Long Live Super Alcoholico, Tobacciana, & Cavatappi (I forget?)

always admired his attention to detail, ability to paint a twisted, surreal reality. This painting tells so much of the story, but doesn’t give away too much, so much like LOST. It doesn’t really surprise me that he’s a fan, even though I haven’t hung out with him in close to 10 years. I wonder if he’ll ever see this? If he does he better email me.

Ok…. so I have about 5 minutes until the leader hour of the final season of LOST blows my mind…..better get it together! Awesome
